Gingerbread Deep Dish Recipe

December is here and it's the most wonderful time of the year - time for Christmas cookies! Gingerbread is a Christmas classic, and I've tweaked my recipe to be protein-packed while maintaining that delicious gingerbread flavor that we all love!

~Time: 10 minutes prep,15-20 minutes cook time

Macros: 24C/10F/25P

Ingredients:

3.5 Tbsp Light Butter
1 1/4 tsp molasses
4 1/4 Tbsp unsweetened applesauce
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp cloves
1/4 tsp ginger paste
1 oz egg whites
2 oz vanilla protein powder
1 1/4 oz all purpose flour
1/4 tsp baking powder
Stevia/Splenda to taste

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350ΒΊF. Melt butter, then combine with applesauce and molasses in a mixing bowl. Add in all other ingredients and mix thoroughly. Pour into small cast iron skillet, 6-7" ramekin, or these fun gingerbread men baking molds. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick or fork comes clean when stuck in the center. Optional: Top with Halo Top Ice cream for the perfect finishing touch!
